Even Though You Lie Broken

I see your
beauty,
even though
you lie
broken...

I see your strength,
though it's
gone...

I see your
inspirational glow,
though it is dimmed...

I see the dreams you
carried,
though they are
no more...

I see the hope you had,
though they
are shattered...

I see what you
could have been,
though it is lost...

I see your power,
though it is
lost to time and decay...

I see what you once
represented,
though it's no
longer there...

I see what you were,
I see what you are now,
and I find you
beauiful, strong, and powerful,
and inspiraton and a carried of hopes and dreams,
even though you lie broken.

They Kept The Lights Going

On a frigid
moonless night
in the middle of a calm
ocean a group of men
on a ship where
told they could go...

A group of men
on a sinking ship
were told they could go,
they could go
and save themselves...

none of them did.

they stayed at their post.

they kept the lights going
so people could see
to save themselves
and others....

they kept the lights going
to avoid
any more panic and confusion
than there already was....

they kept the lights going
so a group of lifeboats
in the middle of a dark ocean
would have some light to see by...

they kept the lights going
at the cost of their own
lives...

they kept the lights going
until the very end
until death had to come
and shut out
the lights,
in the last minutes....

they kept the lights going
until the end.

would we keep the lights going
until the end?

would we do our duty, our job,
despite being on a sinking
ship in the middle of the freezing dark ocean?

they kept the lights going,
until the end their ship had light.

for that,
they died heroes,
they died gentlemen,
and they died an inspiration
to the world.

they kept the lights going
until there was no more,
until the ocean had claimed them...

would you keep the lights going
until the ocean claimed you?

Unsinkable

they called
her Unsinkable...

they called
her the ship of dreams...

they said she could
not lose against
the ocean...

they called
her Unsinkable....

they said she could
not parish away...

they said she
could not
 sink
to be forgotten
beneath
the waves...

 yet she did sink
beneath the waves...

she was sinkable...

she did lose
against the
ocean...

they were wrong.

but perhaps,
in a way,
they were right...

she did not disseapear
to be forgotten beneath
the waves...

she is still remenbered...

she is still in our minds
and in a lot of hearts...

the souls
that went down
with her
are not forgotten...

she continues
to reminds
us of our own liminations
as humans...

to never become
overconfident in
ourselves or
in what we create...

her stories
from when she was
proved Sinkable
inspired us by
showing us example
of the bravery and courage
and unselfisness
of the human spirit...

she might have
gone down,
she might have
gone down
beneath the waves
on a frigid moonless night when
the ocean was calm...

but she was not forgotten.

 perhaps...

in spirit...
in memory...
in influence...

she was Unsinkable.

A Lady

At the bottom
of the deep
ocean
lies a lady...

She
lives
in darkness...

She
lies
broken
on the
ocean floor,
buried in
the floor
of the Earth...

Her body was
once praised,
her beauty stunned
the world...

She
lies
broken,
her majestic body
now
divided
in two...

Her insides are collapsing,
her outside is deteriorating,
and she is now
food for life...

She lives in darkness,
alone,
yet not alone...

she is filled
with the ghosts
of the hundreds
who went down with her...

of those that did their
duty to the end...

of those that went down
fighting the ocean
until the very end...

she is filled
with the ghostly sounds of the
screens of death of
hundreds of souls,
flaying in the
fridgid waters
with no light surrounding them...

pictures and videos
of her
show a stark contrast
to the beaty she once was...

yet when I
gaze at those pictures,
then and now,
I see a beautiful and majestic
lady laying at the bottom
of the ocean,
a lady who  is a vivid reminder
of the perils of human overconfident,
and of human courage
at the last hour.
